Youth injured in midnight shooting near Bhubaneswar outskirts

Bhubaneswar: A young man was shot and injured late last night by two unidentified assailants on a motorcycle near the Balipatna police station on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar.

The victim, identified as Dipti Ranjan Mohapatra alias Kuna, a resident of Guapur village, sustained a gunshot wound to his left arm. At the time of the attack, he was sitting on the veranda of his sister’s rented house, located close to the police station, when two unknown individuals arrived on a motorcycle and opened fire.

Despite his injury, Dipti managed to escape from the scene in an attempt to save himself.

He was later rescued by police and taken to Capital Hospital for medical treatment. After receiving care, he was brought to the police station for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation.

Police have recovered a bullet and bloodstains from the crime scene. Initial findings suggest that the shooting may have been the result of a previous enmity. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the motive and identify those responsible for the attack.
