IPL betting racket busted at Rajgangpur; five apprehended

Sundargarh: Rajgangpur Police have busted an IPL betting racket operating in the area and apprehended five persons involved in illegal betting activities.

Acting on credible input, the Superintendent of Police, Sundargarh, directed a special team to take prompt action against the illegal IPL satta operations. Accordingly, a team comprising SI R.K. Sethi, SI A. Behera, ASI P.K. Senapati, ASI H. Dhurua and other staff was formed under the supervision of senior officers.

On 03.05.2026, the team conducted a targeted operation in Rajgangpur and successfully detected the betting racket. During the raid, five individuals were apprehended who were actively engaged in running the betting network and collecting money from various persons.

In this connection, Rajgangpur PS Case No. 257 dated 03.05.2026 has been registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), OPG Act, and PROG Act, and investigation is underway.

Seizures made during the operation include:

• Cash amounting to Rs. 6,00,000/-
• Bank account funds amounting to Rs. 17,61,367/- frozen
• Total financial involvement: Rs. 23,61,367/-
• 05 mobile phones used in the operation

Further investigation is in progress to ascertain the wider network and linkages of the racket.
