Kataka: Commissioner of Kataka Municipal Corporation (KMC) and Vice-Chairperson of Kataka Development Authority (KDA), Kirandeep Kaur Sahota, on Sunday interacted with students, aspirants and young readers during a ‘Meet & Greet’ programme organised by Walking BookFairs at its bookstore located at Netaji Bus Terminal, Kataka.
Around 30 UPSC and other competitive examination aspirants participated in the interactive session, where the Commissioner shared valuable insights on preparing for highly competitive examinations and building a meaningful career in public service. She also took questions from the aspirants and answered them candidly, offering practical guidance on examination preparation, time management, maintaining consistency, handling pressure and the qualities required to become an effective civil servant.
Encouraging the youth to remain focused on their aspirations, the KMC Commissioner said success in competitive examinations demands dedication, continuous learning and the ability to stay motivated despite challenges. She urged the aspirants to make productive use of their time and develop a habit of lifelong learning.
Speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner also shared her vision for the Silver City, emphasising the need for citizen participation in creating a cleaner and greener city. She said the active involvement of young people would play a crucial role in shaping the future of Kataka and strengthening civic responsibility.
Highlighting the importance of reading, she spoke about her own love for books and how literature has contributed to her personal and professional growth.
“No matter how demanding my schedule is, I always make time to read because books expand our knowledge, improve our perspective and help us make better decisions. I urge every young person to cultivate the habit of reading, as it is one of the strongest foundations for personal growth and success,” she said.
The interaction concluded with an engaging question-and-answer session on public administration, leadership, literature and personal development. The programme received an enthusiastic response from the aspirants, who described the interaction as inspiring and insightful.
