Bhubaneswar: In order to tide over the large vacancy, the Odisha government has decided to engage retired teachers in government schools across the state.
The government has decided to implement a new scheme “Teacher on Call’ to engage the retired teachers in government upper primary schools.
The scheme will be implemented from 2016-17 academic session, said School and Mass Education Minister Debi Prasad Mishra.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has approved the scheme.
The teachers can teach the students till they touch 65 years. They should not have any criminal background, the Minister said.
The retired teachers would get Rs 10,000 monthly for their service.
