Bhubaneswar: The Film Society of Bhubaneswar (FSB) will organise 9th Indian Film Festival of Bhubaneswar from February 14- 20.
The 9th Indian Film Festival of Bhubaneswar will screen contemporary works from across the country at IDCOL Auditorium.
Some of the award-winning films included are ‘Kutrame Thandanai’ (Crime is punishment) by M Manikandan, ‘Merku Thodarchi Malai’ (Western Ghats) by Lenin Bharathi (both Tamil), ‘Munro Thuruthu’ (Munroe Island) by Manu (Malayalam), ‘Capital I’ by Amartya Bhattacharyya (Oriya), and ‘Masaan’ by Neeraj Ghaywan (Hindi).
Girish Kasaravalli, the acclaimed filmmaker from Karnataka will be the chief guest at the 9th Indian Film Festival of Bhubaneswar.
Ananya Kassaravalli, Babu Eshwar Prasad from Kerala Chalachitra Academy (which is the parent organizing body for International Film Festival of Kerala), Manju Borah and many other dignitaries will be attending the event.
Some of the films made by noted Malayalam filmmaker G Aravindan will be screened at the festival as a tribute.
“We will have discussions and debates on films for the sake of educating ourselves and widening our perspectives and interpretations of cinema,” said the organisers.
Some of the topics will be the role of media in the development of Cinema culture in Odisha, the role of literature in cinema, the future of Independent cinema in Odisha and its globalization, and the importance of digitization in democratizing cinema.
There will be workshops for students, interested film enthusiasts and separate slots for the screening of student films and auteur’s films.
