Oil industries organize walkathon in Odisha


Bhubaneswar: Walkathon, commemorating Saksham-2020, was organized by oil industries in 29 districts of Odisha on Sunday.

Students, carrying placards with the message “Need of oil and gas conservation for the future”, participated in the event.

The representatives of PSU oil companies-IOCL, BPCL, HPCL and GAIL- their dealers and LPG distributors attended the function.

SAKSHAM is a significant event that is organized from 16th January to 15th February every year jointly by the Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) and the Oil Industry under the aegis of the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas.

It is organized with the sole purpose of bringing awareness among the people on the need for oil and gas conservation and means to do it.

During this one month period, various activities are carried out in sectors like transport, industrial, agriculture and household to spread the message on fuel conservation.

The government has initiated various steps to promote the conservation of petroleum products in the transport, industrial, agricultural and domestic sectors which are conducive to increase fuel efficiency and training programmes in the transport sector.

In connection to Saksham 2020, various activities have been organized so far on the need to conserve petroleum by its judicious use.
