Bhubaneswar: The common entrance test for PG courses (CPET 2020) will be held from October 12 onwards across 26 centres. The entrance test will continue till October 22.
62,189 aspirants are expected to appear for the test this for 14700 PG seats.
A total of 68 state public universities and colleges of Odisha, having PG courses, will have a Common PG Admission Entrance Test (CPET) through Students Academic Management System (SAMS), in place of the earlier practice of each one having its own selection test, said the Higher Education department.
CPET provides a single window system for applying and appearing at one entrance test thereby saving the students from the inconvenience of appearing in multiple entrance tests conducted by multiple institutes at multiple places and on multiple dates.
It also saves a lot of money of students as they do not have to pay application fees to multiple institutes, nor do they have to incur expenses to travel to multiple places, said the department.
A common subject-wise rank list will be prepared and the applicants will be admitted into the universities/ colleges and PG subjects of their choice on the basis of their rank and the reservation policy / weightage policy of the concerned institution.
Every year, CPET will be conducted by one university, to be selected on rotation basis. This year it is being conducted by Utkal University.
The examination will be for 90 minutes, consisting of 70 multiple choice questions in OMR sheet. Few Model questions have been uploaded for information of students.
Students have the option of applying for admission in multiple subjects and also giving their preference regarding university/college where they would like to be admitted.
The state-wide merit list will be prepared by giving 70% weightage to the performance in the entrance test and 30% weightage to career from 10th Class onwards. Merit list will be published in about 2-3 weeks time.
