Dengue cases on rise in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The number of dengue cases is rising alarmingly in Odisha.

Khordha is emerging as the hub of this mosquito-borne disease in the state. 

As per the official figures, 2,000 dengue cases have been reported in Odisha, with Khordha accounting for over 500.

Niladri Vihar area in Bhubaneswar is reported to have several dengue cases.

Besides Khorda, there has been a spurt in dengue cases in Sundargarh and Rourkela, Bolangir, and Cuttack, Odisha Director of Public Health Niranjan Mishra said on Sunday.

Bhubaneswar Mayor Sulochana Das said, “We are concerned over the rise in dengue cases in the capital city. The Bhubaneswar Municipal Commission (BMC) has taken all measures to prevent the spread of the disease.” 

“I urge everyone to use mosquito nets and visit a doctor if they have fever. Moreover, everyone should participate in the Dry Day movement launched by the BMC to remove stagnant water from everywhere,” she said.
