Subhadra Yojana: Odisha CM disburses Rs 5,000 to 35 lakh women ahead of Durga Puja

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi disbursed the second phase of the first installment of Subhadra Yojana funds, amounting to Rs 5,000, to the bank accounts of women beneficiaries on Wednesday, coinciding with the start of Durga Puja celebrations.

The event took place at a special Subhadra Conclave in Baripada town, located in Mayurbhanj district, where Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida was also in attendance. Thousands of women gathered from the morning to participate in the program, where CM Majhi was warmly received by the beneficiaries.

Approximately 35 lakh women received Rs 5,000 each during this second-phase disbursement under the women-focused Subhadra Yojana.

The scheme, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his birthday, September 17, aims to provide financial support of Rs 50,000 to women aged between 21 and 60 in Odisha. Beneficiaries receive Rs 10,000 annually, distributed in two installments, one on Raksha Bandhan and the other on International Women’s Day (March 8).

To ensure the effective rollout of the scheme, the Odisha government has earmarked a significant budget of Rs 10,000 crore for the 2024-25 financial year.
