Bhubaneswar: As part of its unwavering commitment to ensuring road safety, Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) has intensified its efforts under the ‘Zero Accident Day’ initiative.
Daily counselling sessions and the administration of the Road Safety Pledge are being systematically conducted across all CRUT depots and operational terminals.
These sessions are designed to sensitise crew members on safe driving practices, reinforce their responsibilities, and promote a culture of accountability and care on the roads.
In a significant development, Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary, Housing & Urban Development Department, Government of Odisha, visited CRUT’s Naraj Depot and joined the crew members in an interactive session.
She administered the Road Safety Oath, urging the staff to uphold the highest standards of service and safety.
“Safety begins with each one of us. As frontline service providers, CRUT crew members carry the trust of thousands of citizens every day. Let us pledge to ensure that every journey is not just timely, but safe and dependable,” she remarked.
Padhee also underlined the message of “Come Home Safe”—emphasizing not just the safety of passengers, but also the well-being of crew members and their families. She called upon all staff to deliver services that are not only efficient, but also inspire confidence and trust among commuters.
Through the Zero Accident Day campaign, CRUT aims to significantly reduce incidents on the road, improve driving discipline, and enhance the overall commuting experience in the capital region.
CRUT reiterates its strong resolve to provide safe, reliable, and inclusive public transport for all, while ensuring the safety of its workforce and the public it serves.
Its worth mentioning here that the Prime Minister has flagged off 100 electric buses under the Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT). While “ AMA BUS” services are already running on 11 routes in Puri, Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, after the addition of these 100 buses, services will be provided on 8 new routes in the Capital Region. The newly constructed Naraj Electric Bus Depot has also been inaugurated. These 100 new electric buses will operate from Naraj Depot itself. This State-of-Art Naraj Bus Depot has been completely built using the latest green building technology.
