Cuttack: The Special Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test (SOTET) 2025, which was scheduled to be conducted today across the state, has been postponed until further notice, as per an official announcement by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha.
The Odisha teacher eligibility test, which serves as a qualifying exam for in-service teachers seeking appointments in Classes 1 to 8, was initially planned to be held on 20th July 2025 (Sunday). A total of 75,403 candidates had registered for the test, which was to be conducted across 193 exam centres in Odisha.
According to the BSE Odisha notification, “The Special OTET 2025 (Paper-I, Paper-II), which has been scheduled to be held on 20.07.2025, is hereby postponed until further notification.” No specific reason has been provided for the postponed government exam.
Both OTET Paper 1 and Paper 2 have been deferred. Paper 1 is designed for teaching positions in Classes 1 to 5, while Paper 2 is meant for teachers of Classes 6 to 8. The teacher recruitment Odisha process relies heavily on the outcome of this eligibility test, especially for in-service teachers meeting the necessary qualifications.

Candidates are urged to stay updated by regularly visiting the official website of BSE Odisha for the OTET reschedule notice and other important announcements. This postponement affects a large number of aspirants, and the board is expected to release the new schedule in the coming days.
