AIIMS Bhubaneswar welcomes President Anita Saxena on her maiden visit


Bhubaneswar: AIIMS Bhubaneswar today warmly welcomed its newly appointed President, Dr. Anita Saxena, an accomplished cardiologist with over four decades of professional experience, during her maiden visit to the institute.

The President was received with great enthusiasm by Executive Director Dr. Ashutosh Biswas, senior faculty members, students, and administrative staff.
During her visit, Dr. Saxena paid floral tributes to former Prime Minister and the founder of AIIMS Bhubaneswar, Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee, marking a respectful beginning to the day. She toured various Outpatient Departments (OPDs), inspected ongoing infrastructure and developmental projects, and interacted personally with patients, faculty members, and students, underscoring her commitment to inclusive and quality healthcare delivery.

Highlighting the significant contributions of AIIMS Bhubaneswar in healthcare and medical education, Dr. Saxena praised the institute’s comprehensive approach to becoming the premier tertiary healthcare provider in Eastern India. She expressed her vision of positioning AIIMS Bhubaneswar as a catalyst for capacity building across the country.

Executive Director Dr. Ashutosh Biswas, while extending a warm welcome, said, “Under Dr. Saxena’s able guidance, AIIMS Bhubaneswar is poised to achieve greater milestones in research, education, and healthcare excellence.”

As part of her visit, Dr. Saxena held detailed interactions with the leadership team including Dr. P R Mohapatra, Dean (Academics), Dr. Soubhagya Kumar Jena, Dean (Examinations), Dr. Satyajit Mishra, Dean (Research), Dr. Dillip Kumar Parida, Medical Superintendent, Lt. Col. Abhijit Sarkar, DDA, Dr. Sudiptra Ranjan Singh, Registrar, R P Toppo, Superintendent Engineer, along with other senior faculty members and officials.

In a key strategic meeting, Dr. Saxena and Dr. Biswas reviewed the ongoing implementation of the ‘Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan’, a national initiative by the Government of India. Dr. Saxena emphasized the need for rigorous execution and community outreach to ensure its success at AIIMS Bhubaneswar.
