BHUBANESWAR: Odisha on Tuesday celebrated the 67th Republic Day with patriotic fervour.
Governor S.C. Jamir hoisted the Tricolour and took the salute at the parade at the state-level Republic Day celebrations in Bhubaneswar.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik unfurled the Tricolour at Cuttack while the people across Odisha celebrated the auspicious day defying the Maoists threat in tribal dominated districts of the state.
A total of 71 teams participated in the parade held at Bhubaneswar. May cultural troupes from different districts performed at the Mahatma Gandhi Marg while daredevil shows including bike riding and roller skating were also witnessed on the occasion.
While police personnel participated in the parade, students from several schools and a tableau of different organisations including Oil India, Nalco, Tata Steel besides NGOs participated in the parade.
After unfurling Triranga at Cuttack, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said the state has been a role model in terms of achieving social security.
He said Odisha@100 documentary work would begin soon.
The Chief Minister also said the government is conscious for proper implementation of the National Food Security Act in the state.
Elaborate security arrangements have been made in Bhubaneswar while a high alert has been sounded across Odisha for the Republic Day celebrations.
Four-tier security arrangements have been put in place in the state capital for the celebrations.
