Army man lands in sex slur, Manipur girl lodges complaint in Odisha

SAMBALPUR:  An army officer has landed in sex slur as a Manipuri woman has filed a complaint with the Sambalpur SP in Odisha alleging sexual harassment and cheating by the Army officer.

The accused Army officer is currently posted at the NCC Group Headquarters in Sambalpur.

The victim alleged that she was sexually exploited by the Colonel rank officer on the commitment of marriage.

The woman said that she had developed a relationship with the officer in 2013, and they were also staying together for some time with the knowledge of their family members. Now, the army man is reluctant to marry her.

“We were in a relationship since 2013. He committed that he would marry me in December 2015. I believed him, and we were staying together as a couple. On January 21, he rang me up and told that he would not marry me as his mother had arranged his marriage with another girl,” the victim said.

A case has been registered at the Sambalpur Mahila Police Station in this connection following the Manipuri woman filing a written complaint against Colonel A N Singh with Sambalpur SP Akhilesh Singh.

Sambalpur SP said that they would start an investigation into the allegations and initiate necessary legal action against the accused.

Sambalpur SP has questioned the colonel and his sister about the allegation.

Notably, the colonel is a widower, with his wife being dead a few years back. He has a son.
