BHUBANESWAR: The Odisha police have rescued at least 515 missing children in last one month as part of its Operation Smile II programme.
Special DG (Crime) BK Sharma on Monday informed that 330 missing children were rescued in Odisha whereas 185 traced outside the state.
Notably, the Odisha Police had rescued 122 children including one girl child missing from Jammu and Kashmir during January 1 to January 15 as part of its Operation Smile II programme.
The operation launched on January 1, 2016, in the state with joint efforts of Odisha Police and Women and Child Development Department to rescue and rehabilitate the missing children.
Ten police teams along with representatives from W&CD Department were formed and left for different destination states like Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu to trace out the missing children.
