Odisha leaders condole death of Hanumanthappa


BHUBANESWAR: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik condoled the death of Lance Naik Hanumanthappa Koppad, who was rescued alive after being buried under snow for six days in the Siachen glacier.

“Deeply saddened by the passing away of Braveheart #Hanumanthappa. May his soul find eternal peace. My deepest prayers for his family,” tweeted the Chief Minister.

Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also expressed his condolence over the death of the Hanumanthappa.

“Deeply mourn the loss of Lance Naik Hanumanthappa. Even in his passing away he epitomised the grit, heroism and valour of our soldiers. RIP,” tweeted Pradhan.

Odisha Congress president Prasad Harichandan expressed profound grief on the death of the braveheart soldier.

Harichandan extended his deepest condolences to the families of Hanamanthappa and other soldiers who have attained martyrdom in the disaster.

Lance Naik Koppad, 33, was flown down to the Army Hospital (Research and Referral), where he battled for life for two days.

He died at 11.45 a.m. on Thursday, plunging his earnestly-praying family into gloom.
