Berhampur University to be Wi-Fi enabled soon


BERHAMPUR: The Berhampur University authorities have deposited Rs 33-lakh with the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) to make the campus Wi-Fi enabled.

While Rs 30 lakh was paid for Wi-Fi facilities, another Rs 3 lakh was provided for repair of the telecom infrastructure damaged in Phailin that hit the campus on October 13, 2013, said an official.

Vice Chancellor D K Behera said the students are likely to have free access to the internet in the campus by the end of next month as BSNL assured to complete the work within three weeks.

Behera said target had been fixed to complete Wi-Fi facilities on the campus before the visit the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) to the University to assess the University’s performance.

The team was likely to visit the varsity in the first week of April, he added.
