BHUBANESWAR: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik is all set to be elected BJD president for the sixth consecutive term on February 28.
Formal election for the President post of ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) will be held on 28 while nomination will be filed on February 26.
Naveen is the founder president of ruling BJD, which came into being after the death of former chief minister and Naveen’s father, Biju Patnaik, in 1997.
Election of Naveen Patnaik as the new president is just a formality as he as the only candidate will file nominations, party sources said.
Meanwhile, the lobby has started for a berth in the state executive committee, the highest decision-making body of BJD.
The state executive would consist of 81 members while the state council would comprise 354 members.
On February 28, the party would nominate the new office bearers that include nine vice-presidents, eight general secretaries, eight secretaries and one treasurer.
