CM Announces Ex-gratia of Rs 1 lakh for Mayurbhanj Victim


BHUBANESWAR: Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday expressed deep grief at the death of two children due to food poisoning in Mayurbhanj district.

He announced an exgratia of rupees one lakh each for the next of the kin of the deceased and conveys his deep sympathy to the bereaved family.

Two tribal children died, and six others fell ill after allegedly taking stale food, which was prepared during Saraswati Puja, at Sananugaon in Mayurbhanj district, police said on Saturday.

The incident occurred when the children were distributed ‘Prasad’ by a girl who returned to the village after appearing in class X examination on Friday.

The deceased were identified as Durga Singh (5) and Sambhu Naik (5).
