Joint Working Committee to Decide Wagon Factory’s Fate in Odisha


BHUBANESWAR: Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu on Saturday said a joint working committee would be formed to resolve the issue of Kalahandi rail wagon repair unit.

“Both the state government and railway have formed a working committee to deliberate on what type of projects can be set up there. After the deliberation, we will take a final decision on it,” Prabhu told media persons after meeting Naveen Patnaik at his residence here.

“Met @Naveen_Odisha,discussed how to make progress on unprecedented funds allotted in rail budget.We form J/V with state, monthly monitoring,” tweeted Prabhu.

Chief minister Naveen Patnaik said the discussion with the railway minister was fruitful.

 “I had a discussion with Railway Minister on Kalahandi wagon factory issue. A joint working group is formed to sort this out.”

 He said they also discussed about the railway connection to Malkangiri and Nabarangpur and added that they will have videoconferencing every alternate month to review the progress of railway projects in the state.

“Fruitful discussions with @sureshpprabhu; agreement to set up joint working committee to protect #Odisha interest,” tweeted Patnaik.

Chief secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi said he and East Coast Railway general manager would meet to decide over the fate of the wagon factory at kalahandi.
