KEONJHAR: The Keonjhar district administration on Wednesday decided to demolish Champua MLA Sanatan Mahakud’s luxurious house built on encroached land on April 22.

Sources said the local administration would free 5 acres of encroached land in Ucchabali Mouza, about 45 km from the district town.

To save the land that belongs to Maa Jagatjanani Trust, Mahakud, one of the rich MLAs of Odisha had fought a long legal battle citing that he had not encroached on anybody’s land.

He took the battle up to the Supreme Court. But, the apex court verdict did not go in favour of the rich person as it directed to clear the entire area except a banyan tree and a temple located on a half acre land in the campus.
