No Power Cut In Odisha Till May 20: Energy Minister


BHUBANESWAR: Energy minister Pranab Prakash Das on Wednesday said there would be no power cut in Odisha till May 20 giving a huge respite to the people reeling under the scorching sun.

It was decided in a meeting chaired by the energy minister here.No power cut in Odisha

He said the next decision over extending the period would be taken at a meeting to be held on May 15.

Notably, the state government is bringing 400 Mw power from Punjab and Delhi under power banking system to meet the power demand of the state besides getting power from different sources including state share from the centre.

Meanwhile, there is no sign of respite from the blistering summer as 17 places recorded temperature above 40 degree Celsius on Wednesday.

Titlagarh recorded maximum temperature of 46.5 degree Celsius followed by Sonepur 46.2 degrees. Coastal Odisha recorded marginal fall in temperature as capital city Bhubaneswar registered 38.9 degree Celsius.
