BHUBANESWAR: Western Odisha town Titlagarh on Sunday broke all-time record in the month of April by registering a temperature of 48.5 degree Celsius, which is also highest in the country.
Titlagarh recorded highest temperature in the country for the third consecutive day. Titlagarh had recorded 48.1 degree Celsius on April 30, 1999.
There is no respite for the people in Odisha from the scorching summer as 17 places recorded above 40 degree Celsius on Sunday. Other towns that recorded maximum temperature are Sonepur (46.1), Bhawanipatna (45), Talcher (44.8) and Bolangir (44.5). The capital city recorded 41.8 degree Celsius.
Meanwhile, the state government confirmed that four persons have died due to sunstroke in the state.
The special relief commissioner’s office has received 88 alleged death cases due to heat stroke so far.
