Temperature Continues To Hover Above 40 Degree In Odisha


BHUBANESWAR: Blistering heat wave continued in Odisha as 12 places recorded atmospheric temperature above 40 degree Celsius out of which 4 stations recorded above 43 degree Celsius on Wednesday.

The highest temperature of 44.2 degree Celsius was recorded at Subarnapur. Both Bhawanipatna and Titlagarh both recorded temperature of 43.5 degrees.

The death of 14 persons due to sunstroke has been confirmed after due enquiry.

“In 62 cases out of total 152 reports of alleged death due sunstroke received from different sources, the death has been found to have occurred due to other reasons,” said a release of special relief commissioner.

As many as 577 tankers have been engaged, 1317 syntex tanks placed to meet the requirement of water supply in urban areas. Similarly, 1099 tankers have been engaged in rural areas for the supply of water in scarcity areas. Besides, 630 mobile vans have been deployed for taking up the repair of defunct tube wells in rural areas as well as rural piped water supply projects.
