BHUBANESWAR: People heaved a sigh of relief from the tormenting heat wave after Odisha experienced rainfall on Friday.
Only 7 places in the state have recorded atmospheric temperature above 40 degree Celsius with the highest temperature of 42.0 degree Celsius recorded at Talcher followed by Bhubaneswar and Angul both recording 41.7 degrees.
The state government has confirmed the death of 16 persons due to sunstroke.
“In 68 cases out of total 166 reports of alleged death due sunstroke received from different sources, the death has been found to have occurred due to other reasons,” said a release of special relief commissioner.
The Met Department also predicted rainfall on Saturday at some places in the state.
