Barabati Stadium To Get Test Status Soon: OCA

BHUBANESWAR: Odisha’s Barabati Stadium in Cuttack would get Test status within two-three months, said Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) secretary Ashirbad Behera.

Earlier, OCA had asked the BCCI to restore Test status to the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack.

Behera is confident that Barabati would get Test status after Anurag Thakur became BCCI president.

“Barabati would get Test status within two-three months. It was delayed after the bottle throwing incident happened in the stadium. Now, the issue is over, and we are quite confident that Barabati stadium to get Test status,” said the OCA secretary.

He also said it would also hold a match soon at the stadium.

Notably, spectators from the visitors’ gallery had thrown water bottles onto the field during the Twenty20 International match between India and South Africa at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on October 5 after being disappointed at the poor performance of the Indian Team.

Cuttack had previously hosted two Tests since becoming an international venue in 1982.
