Executive Engineer Arrested On Graft Charges In Keonjhar


CUTTACK: The vigilance sleuths on Tuesday arrested an Executive Engineer in Keonjhar for accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000.

The vigilance officials arrested Deepak Kumar Sahu, Executive Engineer (Electrical), Joda Electrical Division for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.30,000 from one complainant Sangram Keshari Das of Kalinga village in the district.

In this connection, Balasore Vigilance has registered a case.

The complainant, a liaisoning officer of Jyostna Electrical Appliances, Barbil.  It has been entrusted for electrification of Village- Haripur. The Village Haripur has been taken up for electrification under periphery development scheme of the local mining company M/s  K.J.S. Alualia.

He alleged that the Executive Engineer had sought for feasibility report  from local SDO, Electrical.

The Electrical SDO has already sent the feasibility report of Village- Haripur on 3 May to Executive Engineer. When the complainant requested the Executive Engineer for approval of electrification of the village,  the accused demanded Rs.30,000 for this purpose.

Finding no other alternative, the complainant reported to Vigilance.

As per direction of S.P, Vigilance, Balasore, a  trap was laid on Tuesday. Accused Sahu was caught red handed in his office room by vigilance officers while demanding and accepting bribe  Rs.30,000/- from the complainant.
