Youth Arrested For Raping Deaf-Dumb Woman In Odisha Capital

BHUBANESWAR: A youth has been arrested on charges of raping a deaf and dumb woman on multiple occasions at Barang area, on the outskirts of Odisha capital, said police on Tuesday.

The youth identified as Sambit (24), a resident of Sitaram Bazaar Labour Colony, was court forwarded on Monday.

According to a complaint of the victim’s mother at Barang police, Sambit was allegedly raping the 40-year-old woman of the colony for the last couple of months when the victim’s family was away.

 The family members were reportedly on a visit to their native place leaving the victim with her minor daughter back at home.

Sambit had allegedly raped the deaf and dumb woman for six to seven times during the last couple of months, said the victim’s mother.

Sambit had also warned the victim of dire consequence If she discloses the incident before anybody, the complainant added.
