BHUBANESWAR: Odisha government would appoint as many as 800 Assistant Section Officers (ASOs) in next couple of months, announced Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday.
ASOs would help in the smooth management of secretariat work, he added.
“139 ASOs have been given appointment during 2016. And, the government is going to appoint 800 more ASOs within a couple of months. New recruitments would recoup the shortage of secretarial officers and help in the smooth management of Secretariat work,” said Patnaik in the convention.
Notably, Patnaik attended the convention of Orissa Secretariat Service Association (OSSA) here on Friday.
The Chief Minister also said that the Orissa Secretariat Service (OSS) cadre had been restructured four times during the years 2009, 2013, 2014 and 2015. Furthermore, 272 officers had been promoted to different ranks in the OSS cadre.
“Your association had put forth its demand to equalise the pay structure at par with officers of OAS/OFS cadre and for enhancement of Grade pay of the desk officer and recently. The government has rationalised the pay structure of the under secretaries of the cadre at par with OAS/OFS officers. The government is benevolent to the legitimate demands of OSSA,” Patnaik said.
“Regarding enhancement of Grade Pay of the desk officer, the matter is being examined,” he said.
