NIT Rourkela Sexual Harassment Case: Champatiray Found Guilty!


ROURKELA: The fact-finding committee formed to inquire into the alleged sexual harassment case in National Institute of Technology (NIT) found chief security officer Balaram Champatiray guilty.

The committee, which had submitted the report to NIT authorities, affirmed that the security officer had harassed his junior female security guards of the institution.

The probe panel recorded the statements of 25 persons including students, lecturers, security supervisor and women security personnel and submitted a 15-page report recommending strong action against Champatiray, said NIT director Sunil Sarangi.

The report was handed over to standing internal complaint committee which would submit its report within 90 days after a thorough probe.

Meanwhile, Champatiray has applied for an anticipatory bail in High Court. He was learnt to have applied for bail in a bid to evade arrest.

Three cases were registered against him at the Sector-3 police station in Rourkela.
