BHUBANESWAR: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday said southwest monsoon is likely to hit Odisha coast by next 48 hours.
The monsoon would hit the state by June 17. There was a delay in the arrival of the monsoon, said Bhubaneswar IMD Director Sarat Chandra Sahu.
Some parts of the state would experience monsoon rainfall by June 17. But, most parts of Odisha would experience rain by June 20, he added.
Meanwhile, western Odisha continued to reel under heat wave as seven places recorded temperature above 40 degree Celsius.
However, coastal parts heaved a sigh of relief with the mercury dropping considerably.
Hirakud recorded maximum temperature of 42.6 degree Celsius in the state.
