BJD To Expel Cine Actors If Chit Fund Allegation Proved: Dama Rout

BHUBANESWAR: Excise minister and senior BJD leader Damodar Rout on Sunday said the party would not hesitate to throw out the cinema actors if their involvement in the chit fund scam is proved.

“We did not invite them (cine actors) to join our party. They came with somebody else’s recommendation. If we get an iota of proof, they will be shown the door,” Rout told media persons here.

The BJD vice-president said they (actors) were included in the party during the elections as the crowd puller and vote getters.

Industry minister and senior BJD leader Debi Prasad Mishra said the allegations of opposition parties should be based on facts. He further said the Chief Minister would not let off the guilty.

BJD politicians Anubhav, Sidhant Mohapatra and Papu have acted in Odia films produced by arrested Prabhash Rout.

Oscar chit fund group chairman Rout is in the custody of the crime branch. Meanwhile, he revealed that he had donated luxurious cars and flats to several actors.

Besides, Papu Pom Pom admitted that he received money from Rout as a loan during elections.
