BJD To Hold Demo Demanding MSP Price Hike Of Paddy


BHUBANESWAR: In order to counter the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Monday announced to hold a demonstration before Raj Bhawan on June 29 demanding hike in minimum support price of paddy.

BJD leaders including ministers and farmers would participate in the demonstration demanding hike in minimum support price (MSP) of paddy.

It was announced at a press conference attended by Agriculture Minister Pradeep Maharathy, Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Sanjay Dasburma, women wing president Pramila Mallick and party spokesperson Pratap Deb here on Monday.

The move of BJD is aimed at countering the BJP, which has decided to hold a demonstration at all blocks on June 29 protesting the attack on Union Ministers allegedly by some BJD leaders in Bargarh.

Notably, BJP on Sunday announced to hold demonstrations at the block levels on June 29. It also announced to stage a dharna in front of Raj Bhawan on July 4.
