Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday dedicated 100 new godowns constructed by Cooperation Department and launched the scheme to distribute mobile phones to 41,000 women farmers.
Patnaik said the farmers could store their farming produces in the godowns.
Distributing free cell phones to some women farmers at the state secretariat here, the Chief Minister said that they would get information relating to agriculture activities through the mobile phones.
The government has decided to distribute cell phones at free of cost to the women at the district level. The women farmers identified by the government or availing Kisan Credit Card would avail the mobile phones.
Informing that Odisha has received the national award for the fourth time due to increasing in agriculture production, he said the state government had taken a number of steps for the welfare of the farming community.
