ASI Of Railway Police Suspended Over Bone Breaking Incident


Balasore: Government Railway Police (GRP) on Saturday suspended an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) for the shocking incident of breaking the dead body of an 80-year-old woman into pieces in a hospital in Balasore district.

The superintendent of GRP has suspended ASI Pratap Rudra Mishra for his alleged role in the incident.

Balasore Collector had directed the GRP authorities to take stern action against the staffs in connection with the incident.

Notably, two sweepers of Soro community hospital had broken the body of a dead woman at the hip, wrapped it in an old sheet, tied it to a bamboo pole and carried it to the railway station.

An 80-year-old widow was run over by a goods train near Soro Railway Station in Balasore district.  Her body was taken to a Community Health Centre. As there was no facility for post mortem and ambulance, the GRP officials directed to break the body to carry it on a sling to the railway station so that the body can be sent to Balasore district hospital for autopsy.
