Bhubaneswar: Considering the vast tourism potential of Odisha, Taj and Orchid groups of hotels have expressed interest in opening hotels in the state.
The hospitality giants approached the state tourism department at the Investors’ Meet held at Bangalore recently.
“Beaches of Odisha have great potential to attract tourists. Therefore, we pitched this potential at the investors’ meet. Taj and Orchid came forward with their proposals,” said Gagan Kumar Dhal, the tourism secretary.
The tourism department proposes to develop four destinations with special facilities to attract tourists. It also proposes to develop 10 other places for tourism in the PPP mode, with special emphasis on beaches.
“We are preparing a master plan for the development of Chilika lake and four other tourist spots, with special facilities. We will start an adventure sports facility in Rambha. We are also planning to develop an eco-tourism cluster in Satpada and a nature tourism cluster in Dhani. We will also develop a wetland cluster in Manglajodi,” said Dhal.
The department is also planning eco-tourism hubs at Chilika, Bhitarkanika, Satakosia, Similipal and Devrigad with resorts and adventure tourism facilities.
Eco-circuits will also be developed at Baripada, Talasari, Chandipur, Bhitarkanika, and Kuldiha.
