Bhubaneswar: Barabati Stadium in Cuttack has regained its Test venue status after 21 long years.
The annual general body meeting of BCCI, which met in Mumbai on Wednesday, accorded Test venue status to Barabati stadium. The stadium had hosted the last Test match way back in 1995.
Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) secretary Asirbad Behera said, “We are happy that Barabati stadium got Test status. We are thankful to the BCCI. We are fully prepared to host Test matches in the coming days.”
Odisha Ranji coach Debasish Mohanty said people, especially youngsters, would definitely enjoy Test cricket on the ground.
The last Test match at Cuttack was played between India and New Zealand back in November 1995.
