Bhubaneswar: Odisha is likely to receive heavy rainfall under the impact of a depression formed over the Bay of Bengal, said Met department on Friday.
It said rain or thundershower is likely to occur at most places over coastal Odisha and at a few places over interior Odisha.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of coastal Odisha, it added.
“The system is very likely to move North-Northwestwards and then re-curve gradually Northeastwards towards Bangladesh coast during subsequent 48 hours. It is very likely to intensify into a deep depression during next 24 hours,” said a bulletin.
The department has hoisted Distant Cautionary Signal Number One (DC-I) at all ports in Odisha.
Surface wind speed from the easterly direction with speed reaching 45 to 55 kmph and gusting up to 65 kmph would prevail along and off Odisha coast.
As sea condition would be rough to very rough, the Met department advised the fishermen not to venture into the sea.
