IMD issues yellow warning for Odisha


Bhubaneswar: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday issued a yellow alert saying that several districts of Odisha are likely to witness light to moderate rainfall in the next 24 hours.

The IMD said light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of South Odisha and at one or two places over the districts of North Odisha.

“Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kandhamal, Boudh, Nuapada, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabrangpur, Dhenkanal, Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Balasore, Cuttack, Khurda and Nayagarh in the next 24 hours while dry weather likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha,” said an IMD bulletin.

Besides, thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Bolangir, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul and Boudh.

People in these districts are advised to remain alert as gusty winds reaching a speed of 30 to 40 km/hr are also likely to prevail in the above-mentioned districts.

Maximum temperature (Day temperature) is likely to be above normal by 2-3°C over the districts of Coastal Odisha and no large change in maximum temperature (Day temperature) over the districts of interior Odisha during the next 2-3days.
