AIIMS-Bhubaneswar faces acute shortage of doctors

New Delhi: The All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Bhubaneswar is facing a shortage of 164 qualified faculties.

According to available data furnished by the union ministry of health and family welfare, 164 posts of faculty doctors are lying vacant against  a sanctioned strength of 305.

AIIMS Bhubaneswar is among the six AIIMS which came into existence after 2012. The other five AIIMS are located at Patna, Raipur, Bhopal, Jaipur and Rishikesh.

The ministry claimed that 95 senior resident doctors are working at AIIMS Bhubaneswar while 17 junior resident doctors are working against a sanctioned strength of 301.

Minister of state for the health Faggan Singh Kulasate said,”Vacant faculty posts are being advertised for regularly by the institutes depending on their requirement. High standards have to be maintained in the selection process as these institutes are of national importance and hence all the advertised posts could not be filled up.”
