42-ft dead whale found in Odisha coast

Bhubaneswar: Body of a 42-ft long and 28-ft wide whale found at Baidhara Pentha beach in Brahmagiri area of Puri district.

After spotting the marine mammal on Saturday evening, they informed the forest officials, who recovered the dead marine species on Sunday.

“It’s a rare whale shark mostly seen in the Pacific Ocean. The cause of the death could be ascertained after the post-mortem,” said Satapada Forest Ranger Achyutananda Das.

He said the veterinary college doctors have been requested to undertake post mortem and ascertain the cause of the death.
