Bhubaneswar: The 4th National Children’s Literary Festival has commenced with a galaxy of writers and authors at KIIT International School on Saturday.

Renowned cartoonist Rohan Chakravarty, Bikram Grewal, story teller Rituparna Ghosh, Amrutash Mishra and Christopher C Doyle participated in the event. The festival was inaugurated by Padma Bhushan Ruskin Bond, who is also its Chief Patron.

More than 600 students from over 60 schools are participating from all over the country. For the last four years, it has brought readers, illustrators, story tellers and publishers together in an ongoing conversation about past, present and future of this literary journey.

Speaking the occasion, Bond said, “It is amazing how many of you want to write to become writers. In fact, most of the writers only write, but are not readers. So, students should read more and more magazine on education, general knowledge and health issues, etc. Students need self expression; it is the base of good writing. Students have eminent writers for this festival, and you should enjoy this two-day festival”.

The colourful festival is being organized by Kloud9, a Children’s monthly magazine, and hosted by KiiT International School. This mega event started in 2013, conceptualised by Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder of KIIT and KISS.

He wanted to start a literary festival exclusively for the children. KiiT International School has pioneered in this field by organizing literature events for the children.

The event is a powerhouse of activities like cartooning, poetry slam, quiz, story writing and 60 seconds to fame. The classic collection of newspapers and magazines was displayed for the enthusiasts. The winners of All India Short story competition organized by kloud9 will be announced at the festival.
