Bhubaneswar: The 2nd Kalinga International Film Festival organized jointly by KIIT School of Film and Media Sciences and KIIT Film Society with the support of the Federation of Film Societies of India, was commenced at KIIT campus on Tuesday.
The festival was inaugurated by renowned film director Susant Mishra in presence of Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT and KISS; Prof. P. P. Mathur, VC, KIIT University; Prof. Himanshu Khatua, CEO, KIIT School of Film and Media Sciences and MD, Kalinga TV; and Dr. Sucheta Priyabadini, Director, Students Affairs, KIIT.
Mishra said films are born in mind and die on paper and reborn in studios.
KIIT has provided enormous facilities to its students for development of their creativity in various fields along with the regular course. As a result, many KIIT students have excelled in various fields. Lalit Paikray and Kartik Bhagat are two among them.
Lalit, an alumnus of KIIT, is the Co-producer of Udta Punjab, Producer of Dangerous Husn and actor in Impossible Murder. Currently, he is producing Syndicate Queen with Michael Bregman of Bregman Production, who are best known for Scarface, Dog Day Afternoon, Carlito’s Way and Bone Collector.
Similarly, Amit Pandey, another alumnus of KIIT, is the project manager of Fox Life, an American show. Kartik Bhagat, yet another alumnus, is now a photographer of international repute. His studio Dreams Diaries at Mumbai is famous for photography.
During this three-day festival, six films from Latvia, Italy, Portugal, Cyprus, Austria and India will be screened. Mother I love you from Latvia, My name is Maya from Italy, Cats don’t have Vertigo from Portugal, Block 12 from Cyprus, Jack from Austria, and Bankrupts from India will be screened during the festival. Prof. Bidhu Roul, Dean, KIIT School of Film and Media Sciences proposed a vote of thanks.
