Bengaluru rerun: Girls abused, thrashed in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Three girls were abused and thrashed for resisting eve-teasing in the capital city of Odisha here on Friday.

The incident occurred Magnet Square on Patia-Nandankanan road.

According to reports, around four to five youths passed lewd comments and abused the three girls who were standing at Magnet Square on Patia-Nandankanan road.

When the girl resisted, another group of boys joined and allegedly thrashed one of the girls and used filthy languages. They also beat up the male friend of a girl and injured him.

The girls have lodged a complaint with the Nandankanan Police Station.

“First, some boys passed lewd comments and when we resisted another group of boys came and started attacking us and my friend,” said one of the girls.

Another girl said that while she was recording the whole incident through her mobile phone, the unruly men snatched the phone and tried to damage it.

They also alleged non-cooperation by police.

The incident reminded the shameful ‘mass molestation’ on New Year at MG Road and Brigade Road in Bengaluru.  The rerun of Bengaluru molestation in the city has sent shockwaves among the people.

Meanwhile, the police have launched a manhunt to nab the culprits.
