Bhubaneswar: A special CBI court here on Monday granted the CBI to take Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay on four-day remand for further interrogation into the Rose Valley chit fund scam.
The CBI would take the TMC MP on remand for the second time. The court had earlier granted six-day remand of Sudip Bandyopadhyay. He was produced in the court after his remand period completed on Monday.
Meanwhile, the TMC MP said that BJP-led NDA government would not release him as TMC is opposing the demonetization move.
“They won’t release me before the budget session gets over,” said Sudip Bandyopadhyay while he was being produced before the court.
Bandyopadhyay is the TMC party leader in Lok Sabha.
Another TMC MP Tapas Pal arrested in connection with the chit fund scam is in jail after his bail plea was rejected.
Meanwhile, the activists of TMC staged a demonstration in front of the CBI office here opposing the arrest of the TMC MPs over their alleged link into the Rose Valley ponzi scam.
