The placement cell head about 30 campus drives in 2016 for the diploma and ITI students.

Recently, Kirloskar Brothers Ltd based in Maharashtra took part in the drive. It was held for diploma students, said an official of the placement cell.

He said students having 60 percent in mechanical engineering took part in the drive.

While the central placement holds recruitment drives on its own, the diploma and ITI colleges are also holding campus selections in their respective institutes.

The central placement cell registers all students currently studying in the final year of the government engineering schools and polytechnics. Students who graduated these courses during the past five years are also allowed to register.

Before appearing for the interview, students sign an undertaking that they are willing to sit for the interview. Once a company selects a student and the offer is accepted, they are no longer considered for any other interview and their name appears in the list of those placed.
