Pulse Polio immunisation drive targets 44.5lakh children in Odisha


Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Sunday began Pulse Polio immunization drive targeting to cover over 44.5 lakh children under the age of five in the state.

The immunization exercise would be held in two phases. The first phase will continue till January 31 whereas the second phase will be held between April 2 and 4.

At least 44.5 lakh children under five years would be administered pulse police drops across the 30 districts, said a health official.

As many as 18,968 immunization centers have been established whereas 376 mobile units will also be pressed into the job. Besides, 849 transit units would be on the move. To carry out the operation, at least 75,872 health workers will be deployed.

Besides, the health department has taken special measures to reach out to the inaccessible areas in the tribal and hilly terrains of the state.
