Govt examining waiving of farm loans: Odisha CM

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday said the Odisha government would explore the proposal to waive agricultural loans of farmers in the state.

“We will certainly examine it (proposal for waiving farm loan),” Patnaik told reporters here.

Agriculture Minister Pradeep Maharathy said the state government has been contemplating waiving farm loans and the matter will be decided soon.

He said the BJD government is all out to support the farmers.

Notably, several farmers have allegedly committed suicide in the state for crop loss and failing to repay their agriculture loans.
