No place of egg hurling in democracy: Naveen

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday condemned the incidents of egg-hurling on Union Ministers as well as the Ministers of Odisha government in various part of the state in the recent past.

“There is no place for such activities in a democracy,” the Chief Minister told media persons at Puri.

He visited the holy town to attend the preparatory meeting for Rath Jatra.

Meanwhile, the state unit of BJP said it would stage silent protest across Odisha against egg attacks on several union ministers during their visits to the state.

The party has decided to hold the silent protest on Sunday protesting against egg attack on union ministers and seeking proper probe in the gang rape and killing of a widow in Dhenkanal district, said BJP state unit vice-president Samir Mohanty.

The protest will be held at all the municipalities, Notified Area Councils (NACs) and Zilla Parishad Zones of the state, Mohanty informed.
