Fire breaks out at Paradip oil refinery in Odisha


Paradip: A fire broke out at the Paradip oil refinery plant premises of Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) here on Tuesday. However, no casualty has been reported in the incident.

According to reports, the fire mishap took place at a power sub-station unit of the refinery at around 10.20 am. Dense smoke in large scale was seen billowing out of the sub-station.

Sources said an oil pipe near Gate-I of the refinery caught fire. Though firefighting teams doused the flames, heavy smoke was seen emanating from the plant premises.

The incident has spread panic among the local residents. However, the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
